Recent basketball games at the University of Virginia’s John Paul Jones Arena left fans puzzled by an unexpected mascot appearance. Many wondered about the identity of the character that shared the court with Cavman during halftime.
One Reddit user speculated, “I thought it was a Ting worker,” in response to a thread posing the same question.
Contrary to some theories, the mascot isn’t promoting internet services. Instead, it’s promoting the upcoming Luke Combs concert.
“The Luke Combs mascot decided to come hang out with Cavman to build awareness for Luke Combs’ upcoming concert for his ‘My Kinda Saturday Night Tour’ at Scott Stadium,” explained Haley Schark, a marketing manager at JPJ.
The concert, scheduled for April 4, marks the first event of its kind at Scott Stadium in nearly ten years.
While the mascot’s purpose is now clear, the identity of the person inside the costume remains a secret.
“We cannot disclose who is inside the suit. Just like Cavman, their identity isn’t public,” Schark said.
However, details about the “My Kinda Saturday Night Tour” lineup are available. Dierks Bentley, Ty Myers, Jake Worthington, and Thelma & James will all perform as opening acts for the Charlottesville concert.
