Florida Tops Parent Power! Index for Fourth Consecutive Year

Tallahassee, Fla., June 11, 2025 – For the fourth year running, Florida has claimed the top spot on the Center for Education Reform’s (CER) 2025 Parent Power! Index. This ranking highlights Florida’s strong stance on school choice and its support for adaptive learning environments. The Parent Power! Index is an annual assessment that compares states based on educational opportunities and policy support for school choice.

“Florida is—yet again—ranked #1 on the Parent Power Index by the Center for Education Reform,” stated Governor Ron DeSantis.

According to Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr, “Florida is leading the nation in school choice, placing the power back into the hands of parents, where it belongs.” He further emphasized the state’s dedication to providing a broad spectrum of options for Florida’s parents, reinforcing its top position on the Parent Power! Index.

Beyond its overall ranking, Florida has been recognized as #1 in several key categories by the CER:

  • #1 for Transformational Learning
  • #1 for Charter Schools
  • #1 for Choice Programs

Furthermore, the state has been acknowledged as the leader in Education Freedom by both the Heritage Foundation and the ALEC Index of State Education Freedom. Additionally, Florida earned the top spot on the EdChoice Friedman Index and was ranked #2 for Education overall by U.S. News and World Report.
