Florida Reaches Record High School Graduation Rate of 92.2%
~ Significant improvement observed with a 2.5 percentage point increase from the previous year ~
Tallahassee, Fla., January 13, 2026 – In his State of the State address, Governor Ron DeSantis proudly announced a historic milestone for Florida: a high school graduation rate of 92.2% for the 2024-25 academic year. This is the highest in the state’s history, marking a 2.5 percentage point increase from the previous year and a 4.9 percentage point rise since the 2021-22 school year, showcasing the ongoing advancements under Governor DeSantis’ administration.
Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, “Florida’s historic graduation rate reflects the power of Governor DeSantis’ strong leadership, clear expectations, and unwavering commitment to student success. These achievements demonstrate what can be accomplished when we uphold rigorous standards, provide robust support to schools and prepare every student for success beyond graduation.”
Key achievements from the 2024-25 school year include:
- Florida’s graduation rate surged to 92.2%, showing a 2.5 percentage point jump from last year and a 4.9 percentage point increase since 2021-22.
- All student demographics recorded improvements over both 1-year and 3-year periods.
- English Language Learners experienced the most significant progress, with a 5.6 percentage point rise over the last year and 13.3 points since 2021-22.
- African American students saw a graduation rate increase of 3.9 percentage points from last year and 7.2 points since 2021-22.
- Hispanic students improved their graduation rate by 2.6 percentage points over the last year and 5.7 points since 2021-22.
- Students with disabilities benefited from a 2.3 percentage point increase from last year and a 5.6 point rise since 2021-22.
- The graduation rate for economically disadvantaged students climbed by 3.3 percentage points over the last year and 6.4 points since 2021-22.
