Ingredients

  • 3 pounds apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey or agave
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 cups oats

Optional additions:

  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup coconut flakes

Instructions

Set the oven to 400°F to preheat. Combine apples with lemon juice, sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon in a 9×13-inch baking dish. In a separate saucepan, melt the butter and combine with honey. Stir in flour, oats, and optional almonds and coconut. Spread this mixture over the apples in the dish. Bake for about 50 minutes until the apples are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
