ProVia LLC Announces Major Job Creation and Investment in North Carolina
In a significant boost to North Carolina’s economy, ProVia LLC, a well-known manufacturer of building products, has decided to establish a new manufacturing plant in Davie County. This development is set to create 400 jobs with a total investment of $120 million to build a state-of-the-art window production facility in Mocksville, aimed at serving the southeastern United States.
Governor Josh Stein expressed enthusiasm about the announcement, stating, “ProVia’s decision to establish a new manufacturing hub in Davie County is a win for our state.” He highlighted North Carolina’s strengths, including a robust manufacturing workforce, solid infrastructure, and a thriving economy, which make it an attractive destination for expanding businesses.
ProVia, originating from Ohio, is a family-operated business founded in 1977. With a portfolio that includes doors, windows, siding, stone, and roofing products, the company caters to the residential construction sector. This upcoming facility will be ProVia’s 10th location, adding 580,000 square feet specifically for new window manufacturing.
Brian Miller, President and CEO of ProVia, remarked on the expansion, saying, “This expansion will enable us to continue delivering quality products to our growing marketplace with a high level of service and excellent lead times.” He acknowledged the support from the community and emphasized the company’s commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and service.
According to N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley, the state’s manufacturing capabilities are a significant driver of economic activity. “Our First in Opportunity plan will guide the work to strengthen our site readiness and infrastructure,” he noted, ensuring North Carolina remains competitive for future investments.
The newly created jobs will have an average salary of $66,326, notably higher than the Davie County average of $52,772. This salary structure is expected to contribute over $26.5 million annually to the local payroll.
The project benefits from a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG), sanctioned by the state’s Economic Investment Committee. This grant is projected to contribute $1 billion to the state economy over 12 years, with a performance-based reimbursement of up to $3,280,500. Reimbursements are contingent upon meeting job creation and investment milestones.
The project promises a 73 percent return on investment for public funds, generating $1.73 in state revenue for every dollar spent. Additionally, due to its location in Davie County, a Tier 3 area, up to $1,093,500 will be allocated to the state’s Industrial Development Fund – Utility Account, which aids rural community infrastructure improvements.
Senator Steve Jarvis welcomed the development, stating, “We are delighted to welcome ProVia and these good-paying jobs to Davie County.” Representative Julia C. Howard echoed this sentiment, appreciating the efforts of state and local stakeholders in facilitating ProVia’s decision to invest in the community.
The initiative is supported by multiple bodies, including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the North Carolina General Assembly, and local educational and governmental institutions, alongside Duke Energy.
