Governor Shapiro Announces Major Investment to Preserve Jobs in Adams County

In a significant move to bolster the local economy, Governor Shapiro has secured a substantial investment from The Wenger Group aimed at expanding operations and acquiring Plainville Farms. This initiative is set to preserve nearly 700 jobs in Adams County, Pennsylvania, and support the sustainability of local agricultural businesses.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is committing $6 million to this project, a crucial investment that prevented the closure of Plainville Farms. This financial support not only safeguards 690 jobs but also ensures the continued operation of the 93 farms supplying to Plainville Farms across the state.

Governor Shapiro emphasized the importance of this investment, stating, “This is not just about saving jobs today; it’s about securing the future for hundreds of families and farmers in Pennsylvania.” The collaboration between the state government and The Wenger Group exemplifies a proactive approach to economic development and job retention.

The Wenger Group’s decision to expand and purchase Plainville Farms marks a strategic effort to enhance its production capabilities and market reach. This move is expected to strengthen the agricultural sector within the region, providing stability and growth opportunities for local farmers and workers alike.
