Fennville Achieves Redevelopment Ready Certification
LANSING, Mich. – Positioned to attract private investment and enhance municipal assets, the City of Fennville has earned the prestigious Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC) certification, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) declared today.
Joining 87 communities statewide, Fennville earns the designation of Certified RRC, signaling its preparedness in planning and zoning to attract investment by removing traditional barriers. “Our mission at MEDC is to support Michigan’s strong economic momentum and empower communities to establish a strong planning, zoning and economic development foundation,” stated MEDC SVP of Community Planning and Development Readiness Michele Wildman. She emphasized Fennville’s readiness to advance its vision for improving residents’ quality of life.
The certification process involved a thorough assessment of Fennville’s adherence to RRC best practices, enhancing transparency, predictability, and efficiency in local economic development. With this certification, Fennville gains access to resources for advancing community development goals, along with ongoing support and technical assistance from the RRC team. The certification remains valid for five years, with annual reviews to ensure adherence to best practices.
Mayor Carlos Lopez celebrated the achievement, noting, “Earning Redevelopment Ready Communities Certification is a proud milestone for the City of Fennville. This recognition by the MEDC affirms that we’re ready to welcome investments that strengthen our downtown, support local businesses, and improve quality of life for our entire community.”
