Arizona Strengthens Global Ties with New Trade Office in South Korea
In a strategic move to bolster international trade, Arizona has unveiled its latest trade and investment office in Seoul, South Korea. This initiative, backed by the Arizona Commerce Authority, aims to enhance the state’s economic partnerships and follows the recent inauguration of a similar office in Taipei, Taiwan.

expressed Governor Katie Hobbs, emphasizing the significance of this collaboration. She highlighted the robust economic relationship between Arizona and South Korea, particularly in the innovation-driven sectors.
In a testament to the growing economic ties, South Korea’s LG Energy Solution announced in 2022 its decision to invest $1.4 billion in a new battery manufacturing facility in Queen Creek, Arizona. This project is expected to generate at least 1,000 jobs, showcasing a burgeoning opportunity in sectors like semiconductors, aerospace, and automotive.
Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, remarked, Our South Korean trade office represents a significant opportunity to further scale Arizona’s global competitiveness.
She noted the potential for growth and strengthened relations between Arizona and South Korea.
The U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, Philip S. Goldberg, also expressed his approval, stating, I’m pleased that Arizona is opening an office here in South Korea. Arizona’s new office will help contribute to deepening the U.S. – ROK alliance.
The Arizona Commerce Authority has appointed Julie Kim, a seasoned consultant in trade and investment, to lead the new office in South Korea. Kim brings a wealth of experience, having previously served in various roles including as the director of the Korea office for the State of Virginia.
