Supervisor Galvin Urges Governor Hobbs to Back 95:1 Election Reform

Arizona’s Election Reform Proposal Aims to Expedite Vote Counting

As the demand for quicker election outcomes intensifies, Supervisor Thomas Galvin is urging Governor Katie Hobbs to back his proposed “95:1 Plan” in the legislature. Galvin emphasizes the need for a significant overhaul to ensure that 95% of votes are counted by the end of Election Night. He argues that the current system is overly taxing on election workers and volunteers.

The proposed plan introduces three primary changes designed to streamline voting processes:

  1. All early mail ballots must be submitted or placed in a drop box by the Friday preceding Election Day.
  2. In-person voting should be available on the Saturday and Monday before Election Day, making early voting genuinely early.
  3. Government buildings should be utilized as polling locations.

Galvin asserts that these reforms are crucial for Arizona’s reputation and align with the desires of its voters. He believes that faster election results will bolster voter confidence and reduce misinformation, advocating for these adjustments as a matter of accountability that transcends partisan divides.

“Voters have been clear in what they want: faster election results,” Galvin stated, reinforcing the call for prompt legislative action. With the legislature showing encouraging signs, Galvin urges Governor Hobbs to heed the electorate’s call for straightforward, non-partisan election reform. “Voters deserve nothing less,” he concluded.
