Maricopa County has once again demonstrated its prowess in efficient county governance, earning nationwide recognition. For the third consecutive year, the National Association of Counties (NACo) has acknowledged Maricopa County’s exceptional service by bestowing over 70 National Achievement Awards. This year, the county received 78 awards covering diverse areas such as public health, elections, and criminal justice.

Board of Supervisors Chair Kate Brophy McGee of District 3 remarked, “Maricopa County employees are skilled, innovative, and most of all, they care deeply about our residents. I’m grateful to NACo for recognizing that so many of our programs make a measurable, positive impact on the community.”

The NACo Awards aim to highlight county government programs that provide essential services, improve service access, boost citizen involvement, and demonstrate tangible outcomes like cost efficiencies and enhanced productivity.

This year, 20 different departments, elected offices, and judicial entities within Maricopa County were honored, showcasing the extensive efforts across various sectors. The departments of Public Health and Human Services stood out, receiving 24 and 17 awards respectively.

County Manager Jen Pokorski praised the dedication of the employees, stating, “These awards reflect the hard work and commitment of our employees, who show up every day focused on serving Maricopa County residents. They take pride in finding better ways to deliver services and make the most of taxpayer dollars.
