Wildland Fire Training Scheduled at Water Canyon Recreation Area
WINNEMUCCA, NV – In an effort to enhance the skills of its firefighters, the US Wildland Fire Service, Winnemucca Unit, is organizing a training exercise at Water Canyon Recreation Area. This exercise is slated to occur over two days, from May 19 to May 20, 2026.
To facilitate the training, a section of the road from the second restroom to the upper end of the campground will be temporarily closed. The closure is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and efficiency of the training operations.
