Public Input Sought for Proposed Gold Mining Project in Nye County
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is requesting public input on the proposed North Bullfrog gold mine, which is set to span 6,298 acres of public and private land near Beatty, Nevada. This initiative could significantly impact the local economy and environment, drawing both interest and scrutiny.
If the project receives approval, Corvus Gold Nevada, Inc. will undertake the extraction of ore, rock, and soil from three open pit mines in the area. The construction phase alone is expected to create 530 jobs, while ongoing operations would provide employment for 230 individuals throughout the mine’s operational lifespan.
The Environmental Protection Agency has initiated a 30-day public comment period by publishing a notice in the Federal Register. Stakeholders and interested parties can review the draft Environmental Impact Statement and submit feedback through the BLM National NEPA Register by selecting the “Participate Now” option. For further inquiries, BLM Project Manager Melissa Jennings can be contacted at [email protected] or by calling 775-482-4747. The deadline for submitting comments is June 8, 2026.
