Delco Gives: A Community Coming Together for Change
The anticipation is building in Delaware County as the community prepares for Delco Gives, an annual online fundraising event that is becoming a cornerstone of local philanthropy. Set for May 6–7, this event, hosted by The Foundation for Delaware County, unites nonprofits and donors to bolster support for vital community organizations.
Delco Gives is not just a day of giving; it’s a movement that underscores the power of community collaboration during challenging times. Michael Kellerman, the foundation’s president, emphasized, “Delco Gives is about more than a single day of giving. It’s about what’s possible when a community comes together with purpose.”
In its previous iteration, more than 11,000 donors raised approximately $2.3 million. This year, with over 300 nonprofit organizations involved, the potential for impact has only increased.
How to Participate in Delco Gives
The event offers several ways for individuals and businesses to make a difference:
• Every Donation Matters: Contributions of any size are significant. Bonus funds and prizes enhance donations made during Delco Gives, amplifying their effect. For those unsure about which cause to support, the All In Fund allows donations to be distributed across all participating nonprofits.
• Share Your Story: Advocacy is not limited to monetary contributions. Donors are encouraged to share their reasons for giving and engage others to participate through social media and personal fundraising efforts. Resources and promotional materials are available on the Delco Gives website.
• Corporate Engagement: Businesses are pivotal to the event’s success, with opportunities for matching gifts, prize sponsorships, and team donations. The event culminates in a celebration at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex on May 7, encouraging team participation.
