Governor Stein Announces New Appointments to Boards and Commissions

In a series of strategic appointments, Governor Josh Stein has announced new members for various boards and commissions across the state, emphasizing a commitment to cultural preservation, health care, and community development. These appointments reflect a diverse group of individuals dedicated to enhancing the communities they serve through expertise in various fields.

Cherokee Preservation Foundation Board of Directors

Myra Cloer of Swain County has been appointed as an at-large member. A lifelong resident and business operator in Cherokee, Cloer carries forward her family’s rich tradition in Cherokee arts and healing, as her grandmother was a fluent Cherokee language speaker.

Historic Bath Commission

Maree Richards Benson of Beaufort County joins as an at-large member. Since moving to Bath in 2015, Benson has embraced the town’s rich history and aims to preserve its legacy for future generations.

Ellen Kinsinger of Beaufort County will also serve as an at-large member. Kinsinger brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience, specializing in organizational strategy and modernization within a regional law firm.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission

Rabbi Dr. Judith Schindler of Mecklenburg County has been named an at-large member. A Sklut Professor of Jewish Studies at Queens University of Charlotte, Rabbi Schindler is also the executive director of the Spill the Honey Foundation, promoting the Black-Jewish alliance through arts and education.

Microelectronics Center of North Carolina

Shamyla Lando of Wake County has been appointed as an at-large member. Lando is a renowned technology leader and a two-time finalist for the Triangle CIO Orbie Award, with extensive experience in digital health care transformation.

North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy

Dr. Surah Grumet of Wake County joins as a physician member. With a proven track record in health care innovation, Dr. Grumet owns Mindful Aging Consultants and serves as chief medical officer at Eventus WholeHealth.

North Carolina Holocaust Council

Diana Medoff of Durham County is appointed as an at-large member. As a dedicated educator, Medoff focuses on developing inclusive curricula that celebrate Jewish culture and traditions in North Carolina schools.

North Carolina Locksmith Licensing Board

G. Wayne Goodwin of Wake County will serve as a public member. Goodwin has over 30 years in public service, having previously held roles as North Carolina Commissioner of Insurance, DMV Commissioner, and State Representative.

North Carolina Medical Board

Dr. Lisa Ehrler of Wake County joins as a licensed physician member. As Director of OB/GYN and Women’s Services at Advance Community Health, Dr. Ehrler has developed programs focused on improving health outcomes through comprehensive care.

North Carolina Museum of Art Board of Trustees

Janelle Collins of Mecklenburg County has been appointed to represent the 12th Congressional District. Collins is a leader in brand and communications, with extensive expertise in venture branding and economic mobility.

North Carolina Partnership for Children, Incorporated

Dr. Shivani Metha of Mecklenburg County joins as a pediatrician. Dr. Metha practices at Atrium Health Myers Park Pediatrics and holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School.

North Carolina Radiation Protection Commission

William Chandler of Mecklenburg County is appointed as an employee of a licensed public utility. Chandler is a supervising scientist at Duke Energy, supporting radiation protection and instrumentation programs.

North Carolina Sedimentation Control Commission

Joshua Przywara of Buncombe County will serve as a Utility Company Representative. Przywara has 12 years of experience in environmental compliance and serves as a liaison for regulatory agencies and Enbridge Gas North Carolina.

North Carolina State Health Coordinating Council

Timothy Walsh of Brunswick County has been appointed as an at-large member. As director of business development at Liberty Senior Living, Walsh plays a key role in driving growth and strategy for the organization.

North Carolina State Historical Records Advisory Board

Blake Hite of Robeson County joins as an at-large member. A PhD student in sociocultural anthropology, Hite’s research explores the social and political dynamics of Lumbee recognition.
