KPCT and Chemtrade to Build $200M Plant in Arizona by 2025, Add Jobs

Major Chemical Facility Set for Casa Grande, Boosting Local Job Market

KPCT Advanced Chemicals has unveiled plans to construct a cutting-edge electronic grade sulfuric acid plant in Casa Grande, Arizona. The $200 million project, set to open by 2025, is expected to generate around 65 new jobs and bolster the region’s semiconductor supply chain.

KPCT Advanced Chemicals, a collaboration between Taiwan’s Kanto Group and North America’s Chemtrade Logistics Inc., will take up a 10-acre site for the new facility. “Kanto Group is pleased to partner with Chemtrade and to leverage both parties’ strengths to bring new high-quality sulphuric acid capacity to serve the growing North American electronic chemicals market,” said Jerry Lu, CEO of KPPC Advanced Chemicals Inc.

The plant will boast an annual output of 100,000 metric tons of electronic grade acid. This marks the first greenfield construction of its kind in North America, aimed at delivering reliability and quality with minimal emissions. Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We’re excited to welcome another globally-recognized manufacturing operation to Arizona’s robust semiconductor supply chain.”

The establishment of the facility is a significant addition to Arizona’s semiconductor sector, enhancing the local supply chain and supporting economic growth in Pinal County. Chris Camacho, President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, commented, “This joint venture, bringing KPCT Advanced Chemicals to Greater Phoenix, is critical to the market and will strengthen our semiconductor ecosystem.”

Arizona’s existing and expanding semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem made it an ideal location for the facility, promising improved service and reduced environmental impact by minimizing shipping distances. Mayor Craig McFarland of Casa Grande highlighted the benefits, noting the potential for job and revenue growth in the local economy.

Stephen Miller, Pinal County Supervisor for District 3, added, “The County’s strategic location in the state makes it an outstanding area to serve the nearby semiconductor industry.” The plant’s opening continues a trend of industrial growth in the area, with companies like Solvay, Chang Chun Arizona, and others setting up operations in Casa Grande, Coolidge, and Eloy.
