Major Investment Brings New Jobs to Lackawanna County
In a significant boost to the local economy, Premier Brands of America has announced a $15 million investment to establish its inaugural manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania. This strategic move is set to generate 58 new employment opportunities in Lackawanna County.
Governor Josh Shapiro’s administration played a pivotal role in facilitating this development by investing close to $4 million to aid the expansion of the health and wellness product manufacturer into the state. The new facility will be located in Scott Township, marking Premier Brands of America’s first foray into Pennsylvania’s manufacturing landscape.
“This investment is a testament to Pennsylvania’s commitment to economic growth and job creation,” said Governor Shapiro. The state’s proactive approach, coupled with strategic financial incentives, was instrumental in securing Premier Brands’ commitment to the region.
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has been actively involved in this initiative, providing crucial support to ensure the project’s success. The department’s efforts are aligned with the broader objective of fostering economic development and enhancing the employment landscape across the state.
The new manufacturing facility is expected not only to create jobs but also to stimulate the local economy by attracting ancillary businesses and encouraging further investments in the region. The project underscores the state’s potential as a competitive hub for manufacturing and innovation.
