Lehigh Women’s Wrestling Shines in Debut Season with National Success
Lehigh University’s women’s wrestling team has quickly made its mark in the world of collegiate sports. In just its first season as a Division I program, the team not only excelled in competitions but also celebrated a national champion among its ranks.
Audrey Jimenez achieved a remarkable feat by winning the 110-pound national championship at the NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships held in Coralville, Iowa. Jimenez secured the title with a first-period pin against Sage Mortimer from Grand Valley State. Her outstanding performance throughout the season was recognized with multiple accolades, including the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler Award, the NCAA’s Most Dominant Wrestler Award for the 2025-26 season, and the NCAA’s Women’s Wrestler of the Year.
The Lehigh women’s wrestling team originated as a club sport in 2020 and ascended to Division I status this academic year. Demonstrating remarkable prowess, the team achieved a 15-2 record in dual meets and claimed victory at the Super Region 2 meet, boasting four individual champions. The program made further history when five of its wrestlers qualified for the inaugural NCAA NC Women’s Wrestling Championships, with Jimenez, Aubre Krazer (131), and Abbi Cooper (117) becoming the first All-Americans in the program’s history.
The men’s wrestling team at Lehigh also celebrated significant achievements. Securing their 40th Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) title, and their second in consecutive years, the team saw five of its members crowned as individual champions. Graduate student Sheldon Seymour (125), sophomores Luke Stanich (141) and Logan Rozynski (157), and senior Nathan Taylor (285) each won their second career EIWA titles, while senior Max Brignola (165) earned his first.
