BLM Approves Fiber Optic Line for Rural Internet in Humboldt County

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – In a significant development for rural connectivity, the Bureau of Land Management’s Humboldt River Field Office has sanctioned a right-of-way (ROW) for SkyFiber Internet, operating under Hot Spot Broadband. This decision paves the way for a new fiber optic line to traverse public lands in Humboldt County, Nevada.

The ROW approval aligns with the initiative spearheaded by the State of Nevada’s Office of Science, Innovation, and Technology, known as the High-Speed NV Initiative. This project is poised to enhance telecommunications and internet service accessibility for rural communities, addressing a long-standing digital divide.

Further details, including a map detailing the project area, can be accessed through the BLM National NEPA Register.
