Cody Reim Appointed to Fill Arizona House Seat in District 3 Vacancy

Maricopa County Selects New Representative for Legislative District 3

In a move to fill the vacant seat in the Arizona House of Representatives, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has appointed Cody Reim, a small business owner, to represent Legislative District 3. This district encompasses a significant portion of northeast Maricopa County, including communities such as Anthem, Cave Creek, and Scottsdale, and extends into areas like the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.

Legislative District 3 is strategically positioned, touching upon three county supervisorial districts—2, 3, and 4—and shares borders with Pinal County to the south, Yavapai County to the west, and Gila County to the east.

Supervisor Thomas Galvin of District 2 praised Reim’s appointment, emphasizing the importance of integrity in legislative roles. “Cody Reim is a principled leader who has proven he will stand up and fight for his community. He’s the kind of person who brings neighbors together. He’s a bridge builder and consensus maker. I’m confident he will serve the constituents of District 3 well,” Galvin stated.

Residing in Rio Verde Foothills, Reim has gained recognition as a political newcomer and a vocal advocate for resolving the local water supply issues. His efforts have centered on securing a dependable long-term water source for the community. Reim’s new role will allow him to tackle water-related challenges at a state level, including deliberations over the allocation of Colorado River water, a concern Supervisor Galvin has commended him for leading.

The selection of Reim followed a list of three candidates put forward by District 3 precinct committeemen, adhering to Arizona’s legislative appointment requirements. Candidates must reside in the district and share the same political affiliation as the former officeholder, Joseph Chaplik, a Republican.

Reim will hold the position for the remainder of the term, with the office set to appear on the ballot in the upcoming General Election on November 3, 2026.
