Joe Lombardo Criticized for Silence on Minneapolis Murders and Trump Ties

Controversy Surrounds Joe Lombardo’s Comments on Federal Agents’ Actions in Minneapolis

As gas prices soar and the job market tanks, Joe Lombardo said Donald Trump is doing a “fantastic job”

Nevada’s political landscape is heating up as Joe Lombardo faces criticism for his comments regarding the actions of federal agents in Minneapolis. In a recent interview with the Nevada Independent, Lombardo was questioned about his stance on the killings of US citizens by ICE and Border Patrol agents. The Nevada State Democratic Party has reignited its “5 Days, 5 Ways Joe Lombardo is out of touch with Nevadans” campaign, focusing on Lombardo’s reluctance to condemn these incidents.

During the interview, when asked about the justification of the killings, Lombardo responded, “I can’t give you an answer to that question the way you asked…” This has sparked widespread criticism, with many pointing out his close ties to former President Donald Trump.

In the aftermath of the killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by federal agents, there has been significant backlash, drawing reactions from several GOP governors like Phil Scott, Greg Abbott, and Kevin Stitt. Despite this, Lombardo, who is reportedly aligning his reelection efforts with Trump, took four days to address the situation. The Trump administration has labeled the victims as domestic terrorists and restricted local investigations.

“As we grieve the senseless killings in Minneapolis, Joe Lombardo proved yet again just how spineless he is when it comes to standing up to Donald Trump,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Kate Sosland. “Despite frequently touting his law enforcement background, Lombardo refused to condemn these tragic and unlawful murders, or even urge Trump to allow local law enforcement to investigate them. Lombardo will always say or do whatever he needs to keep Trump’s approval — even if it means putting Nevada communities at risk.”
