The Return of Reno’s Corporate Challenge: A Community-Building Extravaganza

The City of Reno is once again hosting its much-anticipated Corporate Challenge for 2026, offering local businesses an exciting opportunity to build camaraderie and teamwork. With registration open until August 3, 2026, this year’s event promises to be more thrilling than ever, running from September 9 through October 4, 2026.

Inspired by the Olympics, this four-week competition will see teams from various companies face off in 12 diverse events. Notably, the 2026 edition introduces four new activities: cornhole, an escape room challenge, a 5K run/walk, and trivia. Participants can look forward to a festive atmosphere with food trucks, music, and family-friendly activities enhancing the experience.

Traditional favorites like bowling, basketball, softball, and tug-of-war will also return. Additionally, competitors can showcase their skills in the Home Run Derby at Peccole Park, situated within the University of Nevada, Reno campus.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve expressed enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its role in fostering teamwork and camaraderie. “We’re excited to bring back this event to our local businesses as it provides an opportunity to strengthen teamwork and build lasting camaraderie among peers,” Schieve stated. “I invite businesses across our community to join the competition and enjoy the experience along the way.”

An orientation session for team managers is scheduled for August 12, 2026, at the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center, where rules and expectations will be discussed. The competition will conclude with a ceremony at Dick Taylor Park on October 4, 2026.

Entry fees are tiered based on company size: $1,000 for firms with up to 149 employees, $1,150 for those with 150 to 499 employees, and $1,300 for companies with 500 or more. To ensure fair play, businesses are categorized into three divisions corresponding to their workforce size. Smaller businesses often collaborate to form joint teams, enhancing their competitive edge.

Interested companies can join the challenge by calling (775) 334-2262 or by registering online at the City’s Corporate Challenge page.
