BLM invites public comments on proposed Las Vegas Valley land sale

BLM Seeks Public Input on Proposed Land Sale in Las Vegas Valley

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is opening the floor to public comments on a significant proposal to sell 22 public parcels, covering a total of 233 acres in the Las Vegas Valley. This initiative is part of the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act.

The proposed sale includes a diverse array of parcels: nine located in Clark County, seven within Las Vegas city limits, and six in the City of Henderson. Additionally, the BLM plans to reclassify a 10-acre parcel, previously under a closed Recreation and Public Purposes Act lease, making it eligible for sale nomination.

Under the stipulations of the act, a substantial 85% of the proceeds from this sale will be dedicated to various projects across Nevada. These funds are earmarked for initiatives such as park development, trail and natural area enhancements, federal land improvements, acquisition of environmentally sensitive areas, reduction of hazardous fuels, and landscape restoration efforts. The remaining funds will be allocated as follows: 5% to the State of Nevada for educational purposes, and 10% to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.

Should the proposal receive approval, the sale is scheduled for April 28, 2026, commencing at 8 a.m. Pacific Time, via Efficient Markets. Prospective buyers can register for the online auction once the website is operational. Detailed information on the available parcels will be accessible approximately ten business days following this announcement. These parcels are set to be sold at fair market value, which will be determined and disclosed at least 30 days prior to the sale date.

A formal notice is scheduled for publication in the Federal Register to initiate a 45-day public comment period, concluding on April 9, 2026. Feedback can be submitted in writing to the BLM Las Vegas Field Office, directed to the Assistant Field Manager, Division of Lands, at 4701 North Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130.
