Newport News Shooting Claims Life of Local Resident
A tragic shooting incident has shaken the Newport News community, leaving one man dead and another facing serious charges. Police have released details about the incident that occurred early Saturday morning on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard.
The victim, identified as 21-year-old Isaiah Steven Nichols from Newport News, was found deceased at the scene when authorities responded to the call at approximately 12:15 a.m. The location of the shooting was reported to be a motel situated in the 700 block of J. Clyde Morris.
Suspect Apprehended at the Scene
Upon arrival, police detained an individual at the scene who has now been charged in connection with the murder. Elvis Barrow, a resident of Hampton, faces multiple charges including:
- First-degree murder
- Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
