Motivated by her brother’s cancer battle, Earley dedicates herself to fostering a year-round network of connection for families, siblings, and students alike.

Amelia Earley’s life has been deeply intertwined with cancer ever since her younger brother, Mason, was diagnosed with a brain tumor following a routine eye exam in 2014. This diagnosis brought about significant changes in their family, introducing a cycle of treatments that included a dozen rounds of chemotherapy and necessitated a shift in their everyday life.

As a human physiology major on a pre-med track, Earley chose the University of Iowa not only for its academic offerings but also because of the UI Dance Marathon. Familiar with the organization from her childhood experiences at events in the Chicago area, she found the student-run initiative at Iowa and the university’s robust health care facilities to be compelling reasons to become part of the Hawkeye community.
