Las Vegas Field Office Closes Lands for 2026 SNORE 250 Race Event

Temporary Restrictions Announced for Public Lands During 2026 SNORE 250 Race in Las Vegas

The Bureau of Land Management’s Las Vegas Field Office has announced a temporary closure of certain public lands, effective February 14, 2026, in anticipation of the 2026 SNORE 250 off-highway vehicle race. This measure aims to ensure the safety of participants and spectators by reducing the risk of collisions.

The closure affects the Jean/Roach Dry Lakes Special Recreation Management Area, stretching from Hidden Valley in the north to the McCullough Mountains in the east, bordered by the California State line to the south and Nevada State Route 604 to the west. Access is restricted to vehicles and personnel involved in law enforcement, emergency services, ticketed spectators, event staff, and race participants. Those involved must stay within designated zones.

During the closure, specific activities are prohibited unless expressly authorized:

  • Camping.
  • Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages by individuals under 21.
  • Use of firearms or other weapons.
  • Possession or discharge of fireworks.
  • Allowing pets or animals to roam unrestrained; they must be leashed or restrained to a length no greater than 3 feet.
  • Operating vehicles not legally registered for street use, such as ATVs, motorcycles, UTVs, golf carts, and other OHVs, except for race vehicles registered with the event permit.
  • Parking vehicles in a manner that obstructs traffic, creates safety hazards, or endangers people or property. Violators risk citation, removal, and impoundment at the owner’s cost.
  • Driving through, around, or beyond barriers or traffic control devices.
  • Failing to maintain vehicle control to prevent danger to people, property, resources, or wildlife.
  • Operating vehicles without due care or exceeding a speed of 25 mph.

Event sponsors will provide signs and maps to guide the public to designated spectator areas.

Exemptions to these restrictions include emergency vehicles and those owned by the United States, the State of Nevada, or Clark County. Vehicles operating under event permits must adhere to event stipulations.

The authority for this closure is derived from 43 CFR 8340 subpart 8341, 43 CFR 8360 subpart 8364.1, and 43 CFR 2932.
