Reno Police Department’s MOST Program Boosted by $25,000 Donation from Grace Church
The Reno Police Department’s Mobile Outreach Safety Team (MOST) program recently received a significant boost thanks to a generous donation from Grace Church. This $25,000 contribution is part of Grace Church’s “For the One” campaign, aimed at enhancing community mental health initiatives.
Ward 5 Councilmember Devon Reese expressed gratitude, stating, “I’d like to thank Grace Church for this generous donation to support the Reno Police Department’s MOST program. It’s great to see a local organization invest in important mental health response and referral efforts for our community, and I look forward to the positive impact this contribution will make.”
Reno Police Chief Kathryn Nance echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of the donation. “We’re so thankful for this donation from Grace Church, as it will help support the vital mental health services provided by the Mobile Outreach Safety Team,” she said. “Providing our officers with the right the tools allows them to better serve our community members in need and respond more effectively during mental health crises.”
Pastor Shane Marks of Grace Church remarked on the church’s commitment to mental health. “Grace Church is honored to partner with the City of Reno and the Reno Police Department in support of our community,” he said. “Over the past two years, our church has prioritized mental health through our For The One initiative, and serving our community has always been a key part of who we are. We believe this donation represents the beginning of a strong, ongoing relationship focused on serving and caring for the people of Reno.”
The MOST program integrates police officers with licensed mental health professionals, utilizing a co-responder model to address mental health crises, substance use, and homelessness. The team provides immediate on-scene support and connects individuals to necessary follow-up services and resources, working closely with the city’s Community Action Outreach Division.
Funded by the city’s general fund, along with grants and community donations, the MOST program will use this donation for additional training and equipment purchases. These enhancements aim to improve field documentation, case management, and overall operational efficiency.
In a related initiative, RPD introduced the Mental Health Online Registry (MHOR) in October 2025. This registry allows first responders to access voluntarily submitted information about individuals who may experience mental health crises.
