Framework 2040 Public Review Draft to Open for Community Feedback
As Maricopa County prepares for future development, the release of the Framework 2040 Comprehensive Plan Public Review Draft is eagerly anticipated. Scheduled for public unveiling at a meeting on Thursday, January 29th, 2026, this draft marks the start of a 60-day period dedicated to gathering input from residents, stakeholders, and agencies. This plan will serve as a critical guide for county-level decisions on growth, development, and preservation through 2040.
The existing Comprehensive Plan, adopted in 2016, is due for an update due to new growth trends and changing industry landscapes, alongside Arizona’s legal requirements. This revision ensures that Maricopa County’s progress remains aligned with the long-term values of the community.
The Draft Framework 2040 Comprehensive Plan aims to enhance the health, safety, and welfare of Maricopa County, guiding both natural and built environment development. It seeks to maintain and enhance the quality of life for residents in unincorporated areas. The plan introduces a cohesive framework for growth strategies that balances development with the preservation of natural and rural landscapes. It addresses key topics like land use, transportation, parks, water resources, energy, economic growth, environmental planning, and development costs, all reflecting the community’s values.
Residents, landowners, business owners, and stakeholders in unincorporated Maricopa County are encouraged to participate in the Grand Virtual Event on Thursday, January 29th from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The event will provide insights into the Framework 2040 Comprehensive Plan and details on how to submit feedback on the Draft Plan.
