Coley Home to Create 45 Jobs, Invest $9M in Catawba County Expansion

Furniture Manufacturer Coley Home to Expand in Catawba County, Creating 45 New Jobs

In a significant economic development for Catawba County, North Carolina, Governor Josh Stein has announced that Coley Home, a prominent furniture manufacturer, plans to create 45 new jobs. The company will invest $9 million to enhance its production capabilities in Claremont with a new manufacturing facility.

“North Carolina is the furniture capital of the world, and Coley Home’s expansion reinforces that truth,” said Governor Josh Stein. “I’m delighted to see this homegrown company grow and thrive in Catawba County, validating the quality of our workforce and the excellence of our manufacturing.”

Established in 2019, Coley Home has rapidly become a renowned name in North Carolina’s furniture industry, known for its custom home furnishings. The company handles everything from design to distribution in-house, allowing them to deliver high-quality upholstered products to consumers swiftly. Their expanded facility will add 75,000 square feet to their operations, including a showroom and offices to highlight their offerings.

“We could not be more excited to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility adjacent to our current facility,” said Coley Hull, Founder of Coley Home. “This expansion will support our continued growth and our mission to share an exceptional North Carolina craft with the world.”

N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley highlighted the significance of the state’s workforce in this development: “North Carolina is home to the nation’s largest furniture workforce. Companies like Coley Home, along with more than 850 furniture manufacturers statewide, benefit from our craftsmanship, robust supply chain, and nationally recognized workforce training programs.”

The job positions will offer an average annual salary of $61,911, surpassing Catawba County’s average wage of $54,280. This could result in an annual payroll impact of nearly $2.8 million for the region. Supporting this expansion is a performance-based grant of $100,000 from the One North Carolina Fund, which aids local governments in attracting economic investment and job creation. Companies only receive funds after achieving specified job creation and investment targets, with local government participation being a prerequisite.

“We welcome these additional jobs and investments to Catawba County,” said N.C. Senator Mark Hollo. “Coley Home has quickly grown its business to go directly to its customers’ homes, and we’re excited to support the company in this next phase of growth.”

This initiative has been supported by various key partners, including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the North Carolina General Assembly, Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions, the North Carolina Community College System, Catawba Valley Community College, Catawba County, the Catawba County Economic Development Corporation, and the city of Claremont.
