Pennsylvania Invests $6.2M in Water, Sewage Systems for Five Counties

Efforts to Enhance Community Infrastructure in Pennsylvania

The state of Pennsylvania is taking significant steps to improve its community infrastructure, focusing on essential water and sewage systems. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance living conditions and foster economic growth throughout the Commonwealth.

The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), led by Secretary Rick Siger, has allocated over $6.2 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. This funding aims to address essential infrastructure needs in Centre, Clarion, Northumberland, Snyder, and Somerset counties.

Secretary Siger emphasized the administration’s dedication to creating “safe and healthy communities for all Pennsylvanians to live, work, and play.” He added, “We will continue to make investments like these that address the most critical needs facing our communities.”

Centre County

An investment of $1,235,000 is designated for the installation of a two-inch force main connecting the Eagle Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Mid-Centre County Authority system in Unionville Borough.

Clarion County

A total of $1,807,800 will support the Lake Lucy Sewage Authority Connection Installation Project, which involves constructing pump stations and upgrading sewer systems near North Clarion High School.

Northumberland County

The City of Sunbury will receive $1,000,000 for phase-two of the Susquehanna Avenue Stormwater and Sewer Separation Project, which includes sewer main redirection and infrastructure rebuilding.

Snyder County

To enhance the Penns Creek Municipal Authority Wastewater Treatment Plant, $328,076 will be used to mitigate noncompliant discharges.

Somerset County

A significant allocation of $1,842,654 will replace water main sections and enhance water service connectivity between Hooversville Borough and Wilbur.

The CDBG program plays a vital role in strengthening Pennsylvania communities by supporting housing improvements, economic opportunities, and critical health infrastructure. For more information, visit the DCED website, and follow updates on Facebook, X, and LinkedIn.
