Nevadans Face 34% Health Premium Spike as ACA Tax Credits Expire

The expiration of enhanced premium ACA tax credits has led to an anticipated surge in health care costs in Nevada, with premiums expected to rise by 34%, bringing average monthly expenses to nearly $800. This development could potentially leave 115,000 Nevadans without coverage and burden an additional 110,000 residents with increased premiums. Despite the looming challenges, Joe Lombardo has publicly supported this policy shift.

Under Lombardo’s leadership, health care costs in Nevada have escalated faster than in any other state. This rise in expenses is compounded by Lombardo’s decision to veto legislation aimed at reducing prescription drug prices, following significant campaign contributions from pharmaceutical companies. Furthermore, Lombardo openly criticized the state’s public health option, dismissing it as “bullshit,” despite its potential to provide more affordable health care choices for many Nevadans.

Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Kate Sosland:

“As Joe Lombardo lines up behind Donald Trump and D.C. Republicans, their agenda is forcing Nevadans to pay an average of 34% more for health coverage while too many are already struggling to get by in the Lombardo-Trump Economy, with some even having to pay as much as $18,100 more next year for their health insurance. Lombardo will always choose Trump’s price-hiking agenda over working families and Nevadans deserve better than a Trump rubber stamp.”
