LAS VEGAS — In a measure to enhance safety for the 2025 SNORE Laughlin Rage at the River OHV Race, the Las Vegas Field Office has declared certain public lands off-limits to the public from December 13 to December 14, 2025. This step aims to minimize the risk of collisions between racers and spectators during the event.
The closure affects the area defined by State Route 163 to the north, T.32S. R.66E sections 8 and 17 to the west, private and state land in T.32S., R.66E sections 20, 21, 22, and 23, with boundaries marked by Bruce Woodbury Dr. to the south and southwest, and Thomas Edison Dr. to the east. The entire area described is closed to all vehicles and personnel, excluding law enforcement, emergency vehicles, event personnel, participants, and spectators. Access roads to the closed area are also restricted, with no stopping or parking allowed outside designated areas. Those attending as participants or spectators must remain in assigned zones.
Several restrictions will be imposed during this temporary closure. Prohibited activities within the restricted zone, unless explicitly authorized, include:
- Camping;
- Possessing or consuming alcoholic beverages unless the person is 21 or older;
- Discharging or using firearms or other weapons;
- Possessing or discharging fireworks;
- Allowing pets or animals in one’s care to roam unrestrained. Animals must be on a leash or restraint not exceeding three feet;
- Operating vehicles that are not legally registered for street and highway use, such as ATVs, motorcycles, UTVs, golf carts, and any off-highway vehicles, including in spectator areas;
- Parking vehicles in violation of posted restrictions or in a manner that obstructs traffic or creates safety hazards. Offending vehicles may be cited, removed, and impounded at the owner’s expense;
- Driving through, around, or beyond restrictive signs, barricades, fences, or traffic control devices;
- Failing to maintain vehicle control to prevent danger to people, property, or wildlife;
- Driving a motor vehicle without due care or exceeding speeds of 25 mph.
Event organizers will provide signs and maps to guide the public to designated spectator areas. The above restrictions do not apply to emergency vehicles or those owned by the United States, the State of Nevada, or Clark County. Vehicles permitted for event participants must adhere to race permit rules.
The authority for the closure of public lands is based on 43 CFR 8340 subpart 8341, 43 CFR 8360 subpart 8364.1, and 43 CFR 2932.
