BLM approves New York Canyon gen-tie project in Antelope Valley, NV

New Energy Project Approved in Nevada to Boost Electrical Grid

WINNEMUCCA, Nev.—A significant step towards enhancing the electrical grid and fostering economic growth has been made with the Bureau of Land Management’s final approval of the New York Canyon gen-tie transmission line project. This development spans approximately 35.5 miles, with 21 miles crossing public lands in Antelope Valley, Pershing County, near Lovelock. The initiative is in line with Secretary’s Order 3417, which aims to tackle the national energy emergency by ensuring grid reliability and promoting job creation.

Ormat Technologies, Inc. is set to undertake the construction of a 120-kilovolt electrical transmission line, featuring wooden monopoles, alongside related facilities. This infrastructure will link the planned New York Canyon substation and its neighboring geothermal power plant to the NV Energy power grid through the Buffalo Mountain substation, situated near Lovelock.

Detailed project documents are accessible via the BLM National NEPA Register. For further inquiries, BLM Project Manager Katy Paiva can be reached at [email protected] or via phone at 775-861-6500.
