Drake University and Panama Partner to Propel Technological Advancements

In a significant move to bolster educational and technological progress, Drake University has teamed up with Panama’s National Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senacyt). This collaboration is set to enhance academic quality and spur technological innovation between the two institutions.

The partnership was formalized with the signing of an agreement by Dr. Eduardo Ortega Barría, National Secretary of Senacyt, and Marty Martin, President of Drake University. The agreement outlines collaborative strategies to promote Panama’s National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy aimed at boosting the nation’s technological and digital prowess.

Strategic Initiatives for Technological Development

“Responsible global citizenship is written into our mission at Drake University, and we approach global engagement in a way that leverages our key strengths to address specific educational and societal needs across the world,” stated Annique Kiel, Chief Global Affairs Officer and Dean of Global Programs at Drake University. She emphasized the university’s commitment to this collaborative effort with Senacyt, expressing optimism for future endeavors in Panama.

The collaboration is set to focus on programs that enhance training in emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and data analytics. The goal is to elevate Panama’s human resource skills and technical expertise. Key objectives include supporting Panama’s National AI Strategy, aiding Drake University’s academic initiatives in the region, and enabling knowledge-sharing through seminars and lectures.

Both Drake University and Senacyt are dedicated to pooling their expertise and resources to drive these initiatives, aligning with their institutional missions for mutual advancement.
