Granite Mountain Hotshots Remembrance Event at Yarnell Memorial 2025

PHOENIX – On June 30, 2025, at 4 p.m., the Yarnell Hill Fire Memorial will host the 12th annual commemoration for the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshots Crew. This poignant event is open to the public.

The tribute pays homage to 19 courageous wildland firefighters who perished while bravely combating the Yarnell Hill Fire on June 30, 2013, in an effort to safeguard the Yarnell community. Their dedication and ultimate sacrifice remain etched in collective memory.

Oversight of the ceremony will be provided by representatives from Arizona State Parks and Trails alongside the Yarnell Area Resource Group. The Yarnell Area Resource Group, established in the aftermath of the fire, initially aimed to assist the community in rebuilding homes and structures. Today, it continues to honor both the hotshots’ legacy and the town’s resilience.

The Yarnell Hill Recovery Group inaugurated the Yarnell Hill Fire Memorial Park in 2019, and in May 2023, transitioned its management to Arizona State Parks and Trails. This agency is also responsible for the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park, located two miles southwest of Yarnell along State Route 89, which has been open since 2016.
