Families in Livingston County looking for an engaging and educational evening with their young children have an exciting opportunity. Help Me Grow Livingston and the Livingston Educational Service Agency are hosting a FREE Little Explorers’ S.T.E.A.M. Night for children aged 0–5.
The event focuses on S.T.E.A.M., an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. By participating in playful activities, young children can explore these concepts in a way that feels natural and enjoyable.
During S.T.E.A.M. Night, families will have the chance to move through different stations, engaging in activities that involve experimenting, creating, and discovering. The event encourages families to explore at their own pace, following their child’s interests.

The Importance of S.T.E.A.M. for Young Learners
Introducing S.T.E.A.M. concepts doesn’t have to wait until formal schooling begins. Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers are inherent explorers, constantly learning from their environment. When they build with blocks, experiment with materials, or ask, “What happens if…?” they are engaging with S.T.E.A.M. learning.
Hands-on activities provide young children with opportunities to:
- Enhance problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Understand cause and effect
- Develop foundational math and science abilities
- Improve fine and large motor skills
- Express their creativity
- Advance language and communication skills
- Gain confidence through exploration and experimentation
Moreover, these activities allow families to learn and play together. Engaging with children by discussing their activities and showing interest can transform playtime into valuable learning experiences.
Geared Towards Young Children
This event is tailored specifically for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, ensuring that all activities are suited for young participants. Children are free to engage as much as they like, whether they dive right in or prefer to observe initially.
Adults are required to remain with their children throughout the event.
