Workforce Development and Community Engagement in Maricopa County
In a proactive effort to bolster the local workforce, key stakeholders gathered last week for an East Valley Workforce Development Workshop. Hosted by the Gilbert, Chandler, and Queen Creek Chambers, the event focused on strategies to cultivate a workforce capable of supporting local businesses. Emphasizing the need for problem solvers who are not afraid to fail and learn from mistakes, the workshop sought to address the future needs of the community.
Attendees were prompted to share their best advice for enhancing workforce growth and development, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the event.
Supporting Local Business Engagement
In a separate meeting, discussions at the Gilbert Chamber centered on how small businesses can engage with the County’s operations. The Procurement Service Department has been actively seeking innovative ways to connect with local businesses, emphasizing the County’s commitment to doing business with the community. This initiative aims to strengthen local economic ties and encourage small business collaboration with government entities.
Community Involvement and Public Safety
Active community engagement remains a highlight for local officials. With numerous residents dedicated to improving their neighborhoods, Maricopa County continues to benefit from a well-informed citizenry. Events like Coffee with the Sheriff at Black Rifle Coffee Company underscore the importance of public safety and community interaction, with local law enforcement receiving recognition for their service.

Listening and Collaboration Opportunities
The Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity recently held a listening session to discuss workforce support strategies. The session invited public feedback and collaboration, encouraging residents to share their ideas by contacting district1@maricopa.gov.

Election Success and Community Updates
Finally, an update on the successful execution of the 2026 Maricopa County Primary Election was shared with the Arizona Free Enterprise Club in Chandler. Election workers were praised for their exemplary service to voters, reflecting the County’s commitment to maintaining high standards in election processes.
