Insurance Fraud Charges Filed Against High Point Resident
In an effort to combat rising insurance fraud, North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has announced that Cidnee Nicole Greene, a 31-year-old resident of High Point, has been apprehended. Greene faces serious allegations, including two counts of insurance fraud, a count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, and a count of obtaining property by false pretense. Additionally, she is charged with making a false statement in an insurance application, a misdemeanor.
The Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division has accused Greene of submitting misleading details on an application to insure her 2022 Mercedes-Benz with Sentry Insurance Co., intending to secure fraudulent benefits.
According to authorities, Greene successfully received $411.23 for a windshield replacement and attempted to claim an extra $588.66 for repairs to the passenger side mirror. She allegedly misrepresented the timing of the damage, asserting it occurred while her vehicle was covered by an active policy with Sentry Insurance Co.
Arrested on August 5, Greene is scheduled to appear in Guilford County District Court in High Point on September 15.
Commissioner Causey urges residents to contribute to keeping insurance premiums manageable by reporting any suspicious fraudulent activity. “Insurance fraud costs the average family nearly $1,000 annually in premium increases,” he stated. “We cannot turn a blind eye to this costly crime.”
