NAU’s Ecological Restoration Institute Honored

The Ecological Restoration Institute at NAU garnered national acclaim by receiving the Interactive Ingenuity award at the 2026 Esri Federal GIS Conference. This prestigious award was bestowed for TWIG, a sophisticated wildfire mapping tool developed in collaboration with sister institutes in Colorado and New Mexico.

Astronomy Professor Leads Science Education

Gerard van Belle, a research professor in the Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science, took part in the Flagstaff Leadership Program’s Science Leadership Education Day. Hosted by USGS, this event marked the fourth year Professor van Belle has shared insights about the business of science with participating groups.
