Villanova University’s 2026 Sustainability Conference
Rome, Italy (June 1, 2026) — The Office for Sustainability at Villanova University, in collaboration with its partners, is set to host the 2026 International Sustainability Conference. This event, themed Responding to the Cries of the Earth and the Poor, will take place from October 12–16, 2026, in Rome. It will serve as a platform for around 300 participants, including academics, researchers, and leaders from various sectors, to transition from dialogue to actionable initiatives.
Scheduled at the Augustinian Patristic Pontifical Institute, this conference is a testament to Villanova’s commitment to international leadership in sustainability. The event’s goals are to encourage cross-disciplinary partnerships, push forward research and dialogue aimed at building sustainable and equitable communities, and inspire innovations rooted in ethics and real-world experiences.
Inspired by Pope Francis’ teachings in Laudato Si’ and Laudate Deum, along with Pope Leo XIV’s call in Dilexi Te, the conference will address the interlinked issues of ecological harm and social disparity. It seeks to invite innovative thoughts from multiple fields including sciences, philosophy, engineering, law, and humanities.
Open Call for Papers
The conference is now accepting registrations and academic submissions. Contributions from scholars, practitioners, and leaders across any sustainability-related discipline are welcome, whether theoretical or practical. Participants can submit proposals for lightning talks, poster presentations, or both.
