Aurora Road Closure to Impact Weekend Travel
Motorists in Aurora should prepare for delays this weekend as a crucial section of N.C. 33 west of Aurora will be temporarily closed for essential equipment relocation. The closure is scheduled to last approximately 24 hours, affecting traffic in both directions.
The planned closure is set to occur between the evenings of July 12 and 13 near the intersection of N.C. 33 and N.C. 306. This interruption is necessary to facilitate the movement of drag line equipment across the roadway, a task that cannot be completed without fully closing the road.
To manage the disruption, signs have been erected to inform the public, and a detour has been organized to redirect traffic. Drivers will need to utilize N.C. 306, N.C. 55, and NW 3rd Street/Bay City Road to navigate around the closed section of N.C. 33.
The N.C. Department of Transportation has advised drivers to plan their trips accordingly, as the detour will extend travel times. Motorists are also urged to exercise caution when traveling near the closure to ensure safety for all road users.
