Upcoming Conference Aims to Support Black Youth Through Cultural Connections
On September 20, 2025, the “Stronger Together Conference” will take place in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, providing an interactive platform aimed at fostering cultural connections, creative expression, and community care. This event specifically targets the well-being of Black youth and young adults by offering culturally competent and trauma-informed resources.
A major focus of the conference will be the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ (NCDHHS) Black Youth Suicide Prevention Action Plan. This plan was developed in response to a concerning rise in suicide rates among young Black males across the nation. It outlines a series of initiatives set to be rolled out over the next five years, aimed at decreasing suicide-related injuries and deaths among Black youth.
Kelly Crosbie, who serves as the Director of the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services at NCDHHS, is scheduled for the opening session. She will also be available for media interactions following her presentation.
