NCDHHS Hosts Fireside Chat on Medicaid Enrollment and Coverage Options

North Carolina’s Upcoming Event to Shed Light on Medicaid Enrollment

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) is organizing an informative session to guide residents through the nuances of health care coverage, including NC Medicaid, as the open enrollment period approaches. This live fireside chat and tele-town hall will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Prominent speakers for the event are:

  • LaQuana Palmer, MPA, Deputy Director, NC Medicaid Communications and Engagement, Division of Health Benefits, NCDHHS
  • Hollis Smith, Medicaid Expansion Outreach and Education Coordinator, Care Share Health Alliance

Starting Nov. 1, open enrollment will begin for NC Medicaid and other health care plans. This annual period is critical for individuals and families to apply for or renew their health coverage.

During the session, panelists will explore several vital topics:

  • Determining who qualifies for Medicaid under the new expansion
  • Essential details about the open enrollment process
  • Methods to apply for Medicaid or other health insurance plans
  • Guidance on understanding available health coverage options

The NCDHHS Medicaid expansion website offers comprehensive information on eligibility, application procedures, and support resources. For those needing assistance, state and local teams are available to help navigate the application and enrollment processes, as well as to aid in the renewal of existing Medicaid coverage.

The event will be broadcast live on NCDHHS’s Facebook and YouTube channels, where viewers can engage by submitting questions. Additionally, the tele-town hall will enable participants to join by phone, providing a platform for questions and discussion. Interested individuals can dial 855-756-7520 Ext. 111943# to participate.

This event represents a valuable opportunity for attendees to inquire about Medicaid expansion, eligibility criteria, and the enrollment process.
