Governor Josh Stein Honors MLK Day, Calls for Progress in North Carolina

Governor Stein Urges Continued Progress in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Governor Josh Stein shared his reflections on the enduring legacy of Dr. King and the path forward for North Carolina. In a statement, he highlighted the civil rights leader’s dedication to achieving “liberty and justice for all” and emphasized the importance of continuing this work.

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to moving us toward the promise of our nation: a land of liberty and justice for all. He was clear-eyed about all of the ways America had not lived up to that promise, but he led with a belief that we could – and we must – put our shoulder to the wheel and push the country forward. Dr. King taught us that no matter the speed, we must keep moving forward,” stated Governor Stein.

Governor Stein called on citizens to channel Dr. King’s unwavering commitment into tangible efforts, focusing on enhancing North Carolina’s health care system, supporting educational institutions, fostering safe environments, and providing genuine employment opportunities. These steps, he indicated, are crucial for shaping a North Carolina that serves every resident.

“We must work to improve lives by strengthening North Carolina’s health system, supporting its schools, building safe communities, and creating real job opportunities so that all people have a shot at success. That’s how we build a safer, stronger North Carolina that works for everyone,” Stein concluded.
