The N.C. 105 bridge project in Watauga County is set to experience a significant update in its schedule. Originally planned for today, the blasting operation will now occur tomorrow, July 18, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. This adjustment is crucial for ensuring continued progress on the bridge replacement over the Watauga River, a task undertaken by Wright Brother’s Construction Company Inc.

Banner Elk – According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, motorists should prepare for temporary delays on N.C. 105 throughout the upcoming week. From July 15 to 19, expect minor interruptions between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. due to equipment movement, with flaggers on-site to direct traffic.
Blasting Operation Details
On July 17, the rescheduled blasting operation will result in intermittent traffic stoppages, each lasting no more than 30 minutes. This procedure is a part of the ongoing efforts to replace the 69-year-old bridge, ensuring a safer and more efficient crossing over the river.
