Anson County Bridge Replacement Project Begins with $5.4M Contract

Anson County Bridge Replacement Project Set to Begin

The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $5.4 million contract to Anson Contractors, Inc. for a significant infrastructure upgrade in Wadesboro. This project focuses on replacing the bridge on U.S. 52 over S. Fork Jones Creek, with construction anticipated to start this fall.

In an effort to minimize disruptions, a temporary bridge and alignment will be constructed alongside the new bridge, thereby eliminating the need for a detour. This approach aims to maintain regular traffic flow during the construction period.

The new bridge design includes a width of 40 feet and features 12-foot travel lanes, promoting safer and more efficient travel. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2026, with additional vegetation establishment and landscaping efforts extending into spring 2027.

For those seeking real-time travel updates and information, resources are available at DriveNC.gov and through NCDOT’s social media channels.
