Temporary Road Closure Near Wilson Reservoir for Construction Safety

Temporary Road Closure Near Wilson Reservoir Recreation Area Announced

ELKO, Nev. – In a recent development, the Bureau of Land Management’s Tuscarora Field Office has declared a temporary road closure near the Wilson Reservoir Recreation Area Campground. This closure is set to occur in two distinct phases.

Commencing from August 20 to October 15, 2026, the closure will impact the section starting at the junction of BLM Road 1094 and County Road 730 (IL Ranch Road), approximately 3.5 miles west of County Road 728, effectively limiting access to the Wilson Reservoir Recreation Management Area Campground. This initiative aims to ensure public safety during the road’s realignment and resurfacing project.

Importantly, this closure is specific to this road and does not extend to other routes in the area.

Throughout the closure period, several restrictions will be enforced within the affected area. These include:

  • Prohibition of public access to the restricted zone.
  • Restriction on public use of BLM Access Road 1094.
  • Ban on vehicle operation through, around, or beyond any restrictive signs, barricades, fences, or traffic control devices.
