Celebrate National Volunteer Month at Moon Rocks Cleanup Event

In celebration of National Volunteer Month, people across the nation are taking time to recognize those who diligently work to maintain and enhance America’s Public Lands. Among these dedicated individuals are the Friends of Moon Rocks, a group committed to preserving Northern Nevada’s Moon Rock OHV Recreation Area. This year, Polaris and the Foundation for America’s Public Lands are collaborating to bolster the efforts of these local heroes. Their joint initiative aims to improve access, safety, and stewardship of public lands nationwide, with activities kicking off at Moon Rocks on May 30th.

On that day, representatives from Friends of Moon Rocks OHV Area, Polaris, and the Foundation for America’s Public Lands will gather at Moon Rocks at 9:00 AM for their annual community cleanup event. This initiative invites community members to participate and contribute to maintaining this cherished recreational area.

Get involved on May 30th and be part of the team making a difference!

If you’re traveling from Reno, head north on NV-445 (Pyramid Way) for approximately 10 miles. You’ll then make a left turn onto Winnemucca Ranch Road and continue northwest for 6.3 miles, which includes some unpaved sections. Upon reaching the Bureau of Land Management sign stating “Welcome to Your Public Lands”, turn left onto Bedell Road, an unpaved path, and proceed west for 1 mile to arrive at the main parking area located beside the iconic “Moon Rocks” formation.
