BLM Approves Wild Horse Management Plan in Nye County
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has given the green light to a new strategy for overseeing wild horses in Nevada. This approval pertains specifically to the Stone Cabin, Saulsbury, and Little Fish Lake Herd Management Areas (HMAs), situated about 30 miles east of Tonopah, in Nye County.
Encompassing a vast expanse of 565,197 acres of public land, along with an additional 6,271 acres of private property, this decision marks a significant step in managing the region’s wild horse populations and the surrounding resources.
An environmental assessment was conducted to evaluate the potential impacts of the herd management area plan. This assessment considered various effects on the land, natural resources, and the wild horses residing within these HMAs.
