Management Plan for Wild Horses in Nevada’s Jackson Mountains Approved
WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has given the green light to a comprehensive strategy for overseeing the wild horse population in the Jackson Mountains Herd Management Area (HMA). This region is situated roughly 30 miles northwest of Winnemucca in Humboldt County.
Spanning across 257,395 acres of public lands under the BLM’s jurisdiction, along with 7,579 acres of mixed private and other public territories, the plan outlines the management approach for the area. The environmental assessment conducted evaluated the potential direct, indirect, and cumulative impacts of the proposed herd management plan on the environment, resources, and the wild horse population within the HMA.
Those interested in delving deeper into the environmental assessment can access further details on the BLM National NEPA Register.
