BLM Approves Comprehensive Grazing Permit Across Nevada Counties
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has sanctioned a decade-long grazing permit, covering a vast expanse of 562,287 acres across Lincoln, Nye, and White Pine counties in Nevada. This decision impacts thirteen sheep and cattle allotments within the Bristlecone Field Office and Basin and Range National Monument management areas.
Chosen participants and their respective allotments are now part of the BLM’s Outcome-Based Grazing Authorizations program. This initiative promotes a cooperative strategy, offering flexibility in grazing practices. It encompasses potential adjustments in use levels, livestock types, grazing seasons, and proposed range enhancements, all aimed at meeting shared resource and operational goals. The program is designed to adapt swiftly to varying conditions such as weather changes, forage availability, fire outbreaks, and drought.
Further details, including the final environmental assessment and the finding of no significant impact, are accessible through the BLM National NEPA Register.
